TRAVEL LEAGUE

Miss Scotties Travel program is a competitive program suited for girls with a serious interest in the game. The commitment for Travel begins in April and ends in July. The bulk of games and tournaments are during the month of July and team Rosters are held at twelve players to maximize playtime; however, this requires a commitment of those twelve players. We welcome all players who are interested in travel and a desire to play competitive softball is the first priority. There will be an evaluation to establish teams and we will form as many teams as players and interested coaches allow.

  1. League games include the first two Sundays in June (these are double- headers) and two weekday games each week during the month of July. Tournaments are Friday through Sunday in July. Tournament weekends will be announced by each teams coach.
  2. Travel Players are provided with an intensified, age appropriate, introduction to the game. Skill training includes: batting, fielding, positions, base running and overall game strategy.
  3. Travel players should consider purchasing their own bat and helmet both of which should be ASA approved. The criteria for those approvals is noted below.
  4. We are providing a discount for helmets through a purchase program in our promotional program. Please review the promotional brochure.

Bats: ASA Bat Testing & Certification Program

The official bat in ASA Championship Play must meet all of the requirements of Rule 3, Section 1 and:

must bear either the ASA approved 2000 certification mark or the ASA 2004 certification mark as shown below, and must not be listed on an ASA non approved list, or

must be included on a list of approved bat models published by the ASA National Office; or

must, in the sole opinion and discretion of the umpire, have been manufactured prior to 2000 and if tested, would comply with the ASA bat performance standards then in effect.

Beginning January 1, 2004, all bats in ASA Championship Play must pass the ASA 2004 bat standard. All bats having the 2004 certification mark will be allowed in ASA Championship Play. Bats that have the 2000 certification mark will not be allowed in ASA Championship Play unless they are listed on an approved bat list on the ASA website. For convenience, the ASA website has a listing of bats that do not pass the ASA 2004 bat standard.

2004 and Beyond Approved Bats

For a list of bats that have been tested and found to comply with the ASA bat performance standards, and therefore are authorized to bear the ASA 2004 certification mark and/or are authorized for use in ASA Championship Play beginning January 1, 2004, please click on the manufacturer below. Manufacturers continue to submit additional bat models for testing, and the ASA will update this list as test results become available.

Helmets: All Helmets must include a NOCSAE-approved face mask. The NOCSAE- approved face mask is only compatible with certain NOCSAE helmets.

The travel league is a competitive program suited for girls with a serious interest in the game. These teams play in a competitive environment where they will further develop their skills and knowledge of the game. Miss Scotties field teams in the 10&U, 12&U, 14&U, and 16&U brackets. They compete against teams from around the Capital region.

The travel season runs to the end of July.
