FALL BALL is coming soon for 10U and 12U levels
Miss Scotties Softball is looking for all interested players for our 2010 Fall Ball teams. This applies to our (10) and (12) year old divisions only. The cutoff age is currently (12) years old and not turning (13) prior to January of 2011 and current (8) and (9) year olds may inquire as well. Teams will be formed according to age and experience. Fall Ball is a travel league which includes (5) Sunday double headers beginning in September and ending in October. The competition level is not that of Summer Tournament ball but greater than Recreational. Games are played at various sites throughout the Capital District and generally within a 50 mile radius of our community. This is a great opportunity for entry level travel softball with experienced coaching and a minimal commitment. If interested, please respond by August 16 to the E-Mail below with the following information:
Player Name, Parent Name, Address, Email, Phone #, Players current age and birth date, Players Experience, Shirt Size, and any parent interest in coaching.

Nominations for Board Positions Requested
Miss Scotties
is now accepting nominations for the following Board positions:
1. President
2. Second Vice-President
3. Recreation League Director
4. Sponsorship Director
5. Field Operations Director
Nominations can be made by sending an email to Ralph Rothacker at rrothacker@yahoo.com, and are due by Friday, August 27, 2010. The Board will review/accept the nominations at the September Board meeting, with the official vote taking place at the October meeting. New officers will take office at the November meeting.
To be nominated for a Board
position, a member must meet the following:
A. Be a voting member. A voting member is defined as any adult person in good
standing who is a member of the Board of Directors, a committee member, a manager,
or any parent of a player. (Only one member of any family shall be a voting
member); and
B. Have participated in the Miss Scotties Organization as a volunteer for the
past two years. This volunteer service must have been in the capacity of a coach,
team parent, committee member, administrative function or umpire.
C. To be nominated for President, the member must have served as a Board member
for at least one out of the last three years.
Responsibilities:
The President shall:
(a) Conduct the affairs of the Organization in accordance with the By-Laws and
execute the policies established by the Board of Directors;
(b) Present a report of the condition of the Organization at each General Membership
Meeting;
(c) Communicate to the Board of Directors such matters as deemed appropriate
and make such suggestions as may tend to promote the welfare of the Organization;
(d) Investigate complaints, irregularities and conditions detrimental to the
Organization and report thereon to the Board as circumstances warrant;
(e) Prepare an annual budget, with the assistance of the Treasurer, to the Board
of Directors and be responsible for the execution of the budget;
(f) Other responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Directors.
The Second Vice President
shall:
(a) Perform the duties of the President in the absence or disability of the
President and the First Vice President. When so acting, the Vice President shall
have all the powers of that office;
(b) Develop relationships with the local government and school officials to
promote the Organization;
(c) Develop and implement a plan to acquire facilities for the Organization;
(d) Chair a committee to develop long range plans for the Organization;
(e) Be responsible for seeking and obtaining grants for the benefit of the organization.
(f) Other responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Directors.
The Recreation League Director
shall:
a) Participate in the league budgeting process
b) Recruit and assign coaches
c) Recruit and assign umpires
d) Facilitate the team selection process
e) Develop and distribute schedule
f) Recruit and assign key support roles
i.e. league coordinators by age
group, umpire coordinator
g) Oversee the league operations during the season including resolution of issues
between teams and leagues
The Sponsorship Director
shall:
a) Represent the league in all matters related to developing sponsors.
b) Participate in the league budgeting process
c) Obtain and grow sponsor ship to meet league operating and growth needs
d) Coordinate and develop fund raising activities to meet the league operating
and growth needs
The Field Operations and
Improvement Director shall:
a) Coordinate with municipalities and schools to obtain secured rights for fields
and indoor/outdoor facilities for games, practices and off season clinics
b) Coordinate the improvements necessary to ensure facilities and in suitable
condition for league use
c) Coordinate procurement of required maintenance materials, equipment/tools.
